In anticipation of the centennial of the publication of Wassily Kandinsky’s classic text On the Spiritual in Art, Taney Roniger and Eric Zechman are currently organizing a series of commemorative events to be hosted by the School of Visual Arts in New York City. The events will take place in the spring of 2011.
Last summer, Taney Roniger's work was exhibited at the Pera Musuem in Istanbul, Turkey, in the exhibition Octet: Selections from the School of Visual Arts. The show, curated by Suzanne Anker and Peter Hristoff, was on view at the Turkish museum from August 12 through October 4, 2009. Octet presented over 100 works by more than 60 artists that addressed current trends and issues in contemporary art practice. Following the presentation in Turkey, the exhibition travelled to New York's Visual Arts Gallery, where it was on view from November 20 through December 23, 2009.
